Part of a multi-disciplinary team, we started brainstorming flat rides that could meet all the requirements of this competition. (The rules can be found below). With our ride needing to move 300+mm above our starting position, we immediately thought of rides that could lift the riders high. Also, we were required to have 32 riders per minutes and reach a force of 2G's or more. Some initial ideas were a drop tower and an enterprise. Later we came up with an S&S Screamin' Swing style ride. From all these ideas we created a decision matrix to see which ride would be the best for our competition. That is how we came to design and build a ride like the S&S Screamin' Swing.

We wanted to step-up this idea though, and thought of ways to enhance our ride. We kept coming back to a top spin idea and decided on combining the two different rides together. Our ride will swing back and forth with the seats rotating about z-axis. So our riders will do continuous flips. This is the first ever hybrid of the S&S Screamin' Swing and Top Spin.
